International Ethernet Private Line (IEPL) connects directly to the carrier network in your target region over a physical dedicated line. Traffic doesn't traverse public nodes on the public internet; it takes a private channel instead. This avoids the congestion points common on international links, so latency variation stays low and packet loss remains minimal, with network quality holding steady around the clock. IEPL dedicated lines are typically deployed in core regions such as Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany. They're ideal for demanding scenarios like online gaming, video conferencing, real-time trading, and remote work. Since dedicated line resources are scarce and maintenance is costly, IEPL lines carry higher operating costs than the other two types, but they deliver far more predictable network performance.

Relay

Relay Routes

Relay routes forward traffic through intermediate servers. Your client first connects to a relay node in a region with good link quality, and that node then forwards your requests to the destination server. This approach avoids congestion on some international links, striking a balance between speed and stability. Relay routes are the most numerous type in the route pool, with wide coverage that suits most everyday scenarios, including web browsing, streaming, file downloads, and AI tool access. The placement of relay nodes directly affects real-world performance, so VPNXE prioritizes link quality and redundancy when planning relay routes, ensuring a single point of failure won't affect overall availability.

Direct routes suit scenarios that are sensitive to latency and where the link itself is of good quality, such as accessing local services in the target region. For everyday browsing, research, and email, we recommend routes in Asia-Pacific regions like Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore. These regions are physically close, so latency is low and pages load quickly. If you need to access local content in a specific country, such as local news sites or banking systems, choosing a route in that country will be more stable. In most cases, Asia-Pacific routes are enough for everyday browsing. If you hit slow speeds, try switching to another route in the same region from the client — it usually helps.

For streaming, we recommend routes in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan. Different regions have different streaming libraries, so choosing a route in the corresponding region lets you access that region's catalog. Hong Kong and Singapore routes also support most major streaming platforms. When watching, we suggest relay or IEPL dedicated lines, since streaming requires decent bandwidth and stability. Dedicated lines reduce buffering, while relay routes deliver smooth playback in most cases. If 4K playback stutters, try switching to an IEPL dedicated line in the same region.
